Tarmac SL9 Geometry & Fit Guide: Getting Your Setup Right

Why Geometry Matters More Than Groupset
You can always change components, but you can't change frame geometry. Getting the right size and understanding the SL9's numbers is crucial to extracting maximum performance.
Geometry Chart (Key Sizes)
| Size | Stack (mm) | Reach (mm) | Head Angle | Seat Angle | Wheelbase |

| 61 | 614 | 413 | 73.5° | 72.5° | 1020 |
Coming from an SL8?
Good news: the geometry is virtually identical. If you rode a 56cm SL8, you'll ride a 56cm SL9. The only notable change is a minor toe-clearance adjustment on one size. Your current cockpit setup (stem length, bar width, spacer stack) should transfer directly.
Sizing Guidance for UK Riders
Height 165-172cm: Size 52 or 54 (depending on arm length and flexibility) Height 172-178cm: Size 54 or 56 Height 178-184cm: Size 56 or 58 Height 184-190cm: Size 58 or 61
Always get a professional bike fit before committing to size. At £11,999, guessing isn't an option.
Setup Tips for Performance
Saddle Height
The SL9's seat tube angles reward a slightly forward position. If you're used to a slacker seat angle, you may need to move your saddle 5-10mm back on the rails to maintain your preferred knee-over-pedal position.
Bar Width
The integrated cockpit limits adjustment. Specialized offers 38cm, 40cm, 42cm, and 44cm widths. For most UK riders racing in the peloton, 40cm or 42cm is optimal.
Stem Length
Available in 80-130mm. Race-focused riders typically want 100-120mm for an aggressive position. Shorter stems sacrifice high-speed stability.
Professional Fit Recommendation
We strongly recommend a Retül fit or equivalent before ordering. Specialized dealers with Retül systems can match you to the exact size, stem, and bar combination. This isn't just comfort — proper fit unlocks watts that no equipment change can match.
