Motor Systems: Different Philosophies
Bosch CX (Rail)
The Bosch CX is an industry standard. It's powerful (85Nm torque), well-proven, and supported by thousands of dealers. The motor feel is responsive and strong — you feel the power immediately when you pedal.
Specialized 2.2 (Levo)
Specialized's proprietary motor prioritises natural feel over raw power. The torque delivery is smoother and more progressive. Many riders describe it as "less electric feeling." It's also quieter and slightly lighter.
Which Rides Better?
The Rail feels like an enduro bike with a very powerful engine. It's aggressive, capable, and unapologetic about its e-bike nature.
The Levo feels like a trail bike that happens to be electric. It's more nuanced, more balanced, and aims to replicate the analogue riding experience with motor assistance.
UK Trail Performance
Both bikes handle UK trails exceptionally well. The differences:
