Tarmac SL9 Groupset Choice: SRAM Red AXS vs Shimano Dura-Ace Di2

TL;DR
Both are exceptional. SRAM Red AXS is lighter, wireless, and offers 1x simplicity. Shimano Dura-Ace Di2 shifts faster, brakes more consistently in wet conditions, and has a proven reliability record. Weight difference is 50-80g in SRAM's favour. Choose based on shifting preference: SRAM for click-click tactile feel, Shimano for smooth button-press shifts.

Shifting Feel
Direct Answer: SRAM Red AXS uses paddle-style shifters with a distinctive click — one paddle shifts up, a double-tap shifts down. Shimano Dura-Ace Di2 uses traditional lever/button placement with a lighter, faster shift action. Shimano's multi-shift (hold for multiple gears) is slightly more refined.
Most riders can adapt to either in a week. The choice is genuinely personal preference — neither is objectively better.
Braking Performance
Direct Answer: Shimano's hydraulic disc brakes have a slight edge in wet-weather modulation and consistency. SRAM's HRD brakes are good but occasionally require more frequent bleeding. In dry conditions, both are excellent.
