Riding Experience

The Light Bee X does one thing brilliantly: it makes you grin. At 52kg, it's light enough to throw around like a mountain bike but powerful enough to feel like a proper motorcycle on trails.

Power delivery is punchy without being unmanageable. The 10kW peak hits hard enough to lift the front wheel in first and second gear equivalents, but the progressive throttle means beginners can ride it safely in eco mode.

Handling is where the Light Bee X earns its reputation. The lightweight chassis and low centre of gravity make it absurdly flickable through tight singletrack. You can ride lines that would be impossible on a conventional dirt bike.

Braking is adequate with the hydraulic disc setup, though committed riders should budget for an aftermarket upgrade. The stock brakes fade on long descents.

Build Quality

It's improved massively since the early days, but this isn't Honda build quality. Expect:

• Connector issues if you ride in heavy rain without additional waterproofing
• Occasional rattle from the battery housing
• Spokes that need tensioning after the first few hundred km
• Chain tension adjustments every 500km

The Light Bee X remains the most fun-per-pound electric off-road vehicle you can buy. It's not perfect, the build quality could be better, and the legal situation limits where you can ride. But for sheer entertainment value on private land, nothing touches it at this price.
